Local Area Information

There is so much to do in North Norfolk; from breath-taking beaches with views and sunsets to enjoy, to historic houses and sporting events, there is something for all the family.

From birdwatching to beaches, Norfolk has it all. It also has some fantastic places to eat. It really is impossible to fit everything in during one stay. The beautiful beaches and rolling countryside offer wonderful walks and opportunities to see nature at it's finest.

Take a short drive to Blakeney where you can take a boat trip to see the seals at Blakeney Point. North Norfolk has many placed for birdwatching including two RSPB reserves at Titchwell and Snettisham. The Norfolk coastline has been designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty where many beaches are surrounded by pine woods ready to be explored.

The local area is fantastic for families and Hunstanton has the excitement of the fair. Crabbing with the children is always a fun day out and there is nowhere better than Wells-Next-The-Sea for that. They are both also excellent spots for great fish and chips! If you want to take things a little slower, how about a trip on the North Norfolk Railway, which starts in Sherringham and ends in Holt, a fantastic market town with many independent shops, cafes and restaurants.

There is also plenty of history in North Norfolk. The biggest and best preserved mammoth skeleton was found in West Runton by dog walkers in 1990. Other beaches are also great for trying to find fossils, such as Hunstanton and Old Hunstanton. Inland, there are substantial building remains of Binham Priory and the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham where pilgrims have come for centuries. Holkham Hall offers a wonderful day out, The Hall is a must-see and the grounds seem endless and are great for walking or cycling around.

Burnham Market, often referred to as Chelsea-On-Sea because it is a magnet for celebrities and sophisticates has some fantastic places to eat. Many places in Norfolk are also dog friendly so you don't have to leave your pooch at home!

If you want to stay local, Heacham offers two fantastic beaches and countryside walks straight from your door step.

North Norfolk is also renowned for its walks and whether you're treading the well-worn coastal routes or venturing into the countryside, there are outstanding views to be had in all directions, and, luckily for Norfolk, plenty of well stocked and friendly pubs to quench your thirst afterwards.
